Engo 2 is a pair of 36-gram sports sunglasses built on the ActiveLook micro-display platform, for cyclists and runners who want ride data without looking down at a computer or watch. Cycling Weekly called it 'one of the best HUD glasses available' for its crisp display and light build.
The single-lens display, made by Microoled, projects pace, heart rate, power and cadence from a paired Garmin, Apple Watch, or Suunto into the wearer's line of sight, controlled by gesture taps on the frame. Cycling Weekly measured about 12 hours of battery life and priced it as competitive for HUD tech at $349.95.
On the question this catalog exists to answer: Engo 2 reaches outside developers through the openly published ActiveLook Android and iOS SDK on GitHub, with BLE documentation and Garmin sample code. Certifying a commercial product on that platform, though, requires signing a license agreement with Microoled, ActiveLook's maker.
Cycling Weekly also found real limits: poor weight distribution causing facial discomfort, unreliable Bluetooth pairing needing repeated re-pairing, and no compatibility with Wahoo or Hammerhead computers. Engo 2 also has no prescription lens option, so vision correction needs contacts underneath.
