We bought a Rokid Glasses RV101 and sent it to our lab in Zhuhai. Here is what held up.

  • The RV101 takes a prescription from minus 15 to plus 15, through an official optical partner or a clip-on frame sold separately.

    Neither Google nor Samsung had disclosed an official price as of 2026-09-05; Samsung executives said only that they are targeting a 'reasonable' level within the premium segment (reported by Android Central/9to5google, 2026-07-27). Independent outlets sourcing supply-chain leaks under the codename 'Jinju' (SamMobile, Smartprix, Geeky Gadgets, Dymesty) estimate USD 379-499 for the 2026 audio-only generation; that range is not an official price and priceUsd is left null accordingly.

    The AngelEye Smart Reader SR-W1 is a 30 g module that clips onto ordinary glasses and reads printed text aloud, offline. NextVPU claims over 95% accuracy and 1.5 hours of use.

    Closed to third parties

    No price is published on any page of the official site (the product page, the 48 question FAQ and the home page were all checked); there is no buy button and no integrated store. The USD 1,199 retail price appears only in the archived description of the original 2016 to 2017 Indiegogo campaign, for the first generation product (see notes), and is not repeated here as the price of the current SR-W1 because it belongs to a different product and a different time.

    No source, official or press, had published a price up to 2026-09-05, despite two public showings (AWE 2026 in March and an event in Silicon Valley in April) and despite one source (Eastmoney, 2026-03-25) citing a global launch planned for 'June 2026' with no figure. No sales listing with a price was found, in Chinese or in English, on the official store, JD, Tmall or Amazon.

    B by Lenskart is sold only in India: a 12 MP camera on a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, hands-free UPI payments and Gemini as the assistant. Early access units shipped from May 2026.

    SDK only for partners under contract

    Rs 22,000 was the early access price in India in May 2026. Press coverage puts the regular price at Rs 27,000 and converts the early one to about US$230. There is no official price in dollars or reais.

  • Pico delays Space Pro mixed-reality headset to Q4 2026, cancels September 2 Beijing reveal

    ByteDance's Pico had scheduled a September 2, 2026 Beijing event to unveil Space Pro (formerly 'Project Swan'), a roughly 270-gram headset with dual 4K Micro-OLED displays at about 4,000 PPI, a self-developed XR chip alongside a flagship SoC, and 12ms end-to-end passthrough latency positioned against Apple's Vision Pro. Pico cancelled that event about nine days beforehand and pushed the launch to Q4 2026, saying hardware and software had reached a high level of completion but that it wanted more time for a 'major upgrade' to the software experience; no price or confirmed regions have been announced.

    Euronews reported on August 21, 2026 that momentum to ban Meta's smart glasses in individual EU countries risks distracting from broader surveillance-technology gaps across Europe. The piece noted a survey in which 67% of 2,128 French adults said smart glasses posed a privacy risk, and situated the German and other national actions within the EU AI Act's restrictions on real-time biometric identification in public spaces.

  • Investigation finds teen boys using Meta glasses to film and harass girls at school

    A Futurism investigation published August 19, 2026 documented teen boys at US middle and high schools using Ray-Ban Meta glasses to covertly film female classmates in hallways, cafeterias and classrooms, then posting the footage to TikTok and Instagram. The report described behavior ranging from unconsented vlogging to mocking and pickup-artist-style pranks, and said schools are responding with outright device bans rather than adjusted phone policies, citing potential legal consequences for covert recording.

  • Xiaomi's second-generation AI glasses reportedly delayed to Q4 2026 or 2027

    Chinese outlet ITBear reported on August 5, 2026, citing industry insiders, that Xiaomi's second-generation AI glasses had finished hardware and software development but that executive Lu Weibing paused the release over dissatisfaction with the external design, requiring rework. The report said the launch may now slip to Q4 2026 or even 2027, and noted the glasses project team had been affected by Xiaomi Group cost-cutting, with several members departing; Xiaomi denied the rumor without disclosing its actual release plan.
