IXI has announced no price, and the glasses are not CE marked or on sale. Its COO told TechCrunch in April 2025 that the target is consumer electronics comparable to a high-end iPhone.

IXI, a Finnish startup founded in 2021 as Pixieray before its 2025 rebrand, builds a 22 g frame (weighed without lenses) replacing bifocal, progressive and varifocal prescriptions with one liquid-crystal lens. A cameraless infrared eye-tracker reads where the wearer looks and shifts focus between near and far automatically, IXI says, adding the lens also corrects astigmatism.
There is no app to write here. IXI has no display, camera, processor running an OS, or SDK: the only software calibrates a purchased pair to the wearer's eyes, per Amazon Science. Anyone looking for a platform to build for should look elsewhere; IXI sells prescription optics, not a computing device.
At CES 2026, TechRadar's hands-on found the near-far autofocus genuinely worked, and Eyes On Eyecare reported the eye-tracker using 50 to 100 times less power than camera approaches, tested on roughly 360 wearers. Engadget confirmed a fallback: with no battery, the glasses still work as an ordinary single-vision pair.
The same coverage names real limits: visible lens-edge distortion per TechRadar, which also reports IXI does not yet consider the glasses ready for driving, and Engadget notes the frame cannot be worn while charging. IXI has disclosed no CE mark, price or launch date.
Verdict
IXI's autofocus frame swaps eye strain for a liquid-crystal lens that TechRadar saw shift focus at CES 2026, and Engadget confirmed it still works as plain prescription glasses without power. It suits no one buying today: no display, camera or SDK to build on, no price, CE mark or launch date.
