Meizu launched the MYVU in China on December 5, 2023 at ¥2,499, positioning it as a lightweight everyday companion rather than a full AR headset. At 43g, with no camera and only 30MB of RAM, it carries no computing power of its own: a green Micro LED display at 1,280x480 runs off the paired phone's Flyme AR app over Bluetooth 5.3, which handles translation, captions and voice assistance.
极术社区 called the assistant convenient day to day but the monochrome, green-only display less immersive than a full-color screen, and said the advanced features trail rivals. 什么值得买 praised the discreet, glasses-like look and the 2,000-nit brightness for outdoor use, but flagged the 183mAh battery as limiting and said the glasses do not serve high myopia well.
For anyone asking whether MYVU can run its own apps, the answer is no: Meizu has not published an SDK, and VR陀螺 notes that only the later StarV Air2 opened that ecosystem. MYVU stays a Bluetooth peripheral with 20MB of storage, dependent on the phone for every feature.
VRAR星球 called the ¥100 price cut, arriving less than two months after launch, a sign that early demand ran softer than Meizu expected. Prescription users add a third-party lens from Dr. Kong Optical, sold separately and, per 什么值得买, heavier once installed.
Verdict
Meizu's MYVU is a closed peripheral: no public SDK exists, and every feature runs on the paired phone's Flyme AR app. 什么值得买 found the 183mAh battery limiting, and 腾讯新闻 reported a price cut within two months of the ¥2,499 China launch.
