Our review

For

  • It recognizes faces, text, products, colors, and banknotes from one 22.5 g clip-on module, OrCam states.
  • It attaches magnetically to the wearer's own prescription glasses, not a separate frame, OrCam states.
  • It is registered with the US FDA as a Class 1 device, stronger regulatory footing than most modules here.
  • It sells in more than 20 languages through a worldwide distributor network, OrCam states.

Against

  • No SDK, API, or developer program exists; OrCam confirms the device has no third-party extensibility.
  • Calcalist/CTech reported in 2024 that OrCam ended development of this line to focus on hearing aids.
  • No price is published anywhere; buying requires contacting a distributor directly.
  • OrCam has not published a battery capacity or runtime figure for the MyEye itself.

OrCam MyEye is a 22.5 g, 13-megapixel camera module that clips onto the wearer's own eyeglasses and reads printed or digital text aloud, recognizes faces, products, colors, and banknotes, and answers spoken questions through built-in audio, with no display. OrCam Technologies, based in Jerusalem, registers it with the US FDA as a Class 1 device, and sells it in more than 20 languages through a worldwide distributor network, with no published price.

There is no SDK, API, or developer program: OrCam confirms the device offers no third-party extensibility.

A caveat worth weighing: Calcalist/CTech reported in July 2024 that OrCam shut down further development of this line to focus on its newer OrCam Hear hearing-aid business, even though MyEye 3 Pro, MyEye 2 Pro, and the Read line remain listed for sale on OrCam's site as of September 2026.

Verdict

No independent review of this device had been found as of 2026-09-06. OrCam still lists the MyEye 3 Pro for sale in September 2026, even though Calcalist/CTech reported in 2024 that OrCam had shut down further development of this product line to focus on its hearing-aid business.
