  1. 1.Display type. RayNeo describes it as binocular full colour MicroLED optical waveguide, in the CES 2024 release of 2024-01-08, and ETCentric and Notebookcheck confirm both traits hands on. Karl Guttag read the microdisplay as three separate Jade Bird red, green and blue MicroLEDs joined by an X cube, on an Applied Materials diffractive waveguide, and still saw front projection glow and colour shifting in tone transitions.
  2. 2.Resolution. 640x480 per eye, in two independent technical readings: ETCentric hands on at CES 2024, and Karl Guttag's optical analysis of 2024-01-24, which works out to about 26 pixels per degree over a 30 degree diagonal. RayNeo's own release gives brightness and field of view but not the resolution, so this is press and analysis, not the maker's word.
  3. 3.Chip. Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, the platform Qualcomm launched at that same CES 2024 for light smart glasses, named in RayNeo's release and repeated by ETCentric and Notebookcheck. Laptop Mag instead gives the X2 Lite a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 with 6 GB of RAM; that is the chip other outlets give the plain RayNeo X2, and it is treated here as the two models being mixed up.

No retail price was ever confirmed. RayNeo announced the X2 Lite for the third quarter of 2024 and never put it on sale; the official store, checked on 2026-09-05, carries only the separate RayNeo X2 at USD 499, sold out.

Our review

For

  • RayNeo's CES 2024 release states a full-color MicroLED waveguide, 1,500 nits and 60 grams.
  • Karl Guttag confirms 640x480 per eye and 30 degrees, about 26 pixels per degree.
  • The same release gives a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, a 12MP camera and 1080p30 video.

Against

  • It never went on sale: the official third quarter of 2024 passed and no store lists it.
  • TechRadar's headline calls it a dystopia to avoid, the only clear verdict on record.
  • No price was ever published, in any market, at any point since CES 2024.
  • Karl Guttag saw front projection visible from outside and color shifting on transitions.
  • No source describes an SDK, sideloading or prescription lenses for the Lite.

The X2 Lite has a launch date and no sale date. RayNeo demoed it at CES 2024 on January 8 and the official release promised the third quarter of that year. Checked in September 2026, it is absent from RayNeo's own shop and from Chinese retail, and no price was ever announced, so this file keeps it announced, not available.

The specs are well documented for a device nobody can buy. The release gives a binocular full-color MicroLED waveguide, 1,500 nits, 30 degrees, a 12MP camera, 1080p30 video, 60 grams and a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1. Karl Guttag confirms 640x480 per eye and the 30 degrees, about 26 pixels per degree, on Jade Bird microLEDs with an Applied Materials waveguide.

The same analysis is where the trouble is. Guttag reports front projection, the glow other people see on your lenses, and color shifting across tone transitions. Laptop Mag and Techaeris also gave the Lite the chip, RAM and storage of the RayNeo X2, so part of the spec sheets circulating describe another device. TechRadar's headline is the only clear verdict here, and the article bodies could not be read.

For a developer there is nothing yet. No source, official or press, describes an SDK, sideloading or a developer program for the X2 Lite, and what RayNeo documents belongs to other lines. Prescription lenses are not mentioned either. With no unit on sale, there is nothing to write code for.

Verdict

Shown at CES 2024 for a third quarter that never came: on September 6, 2026 the X2 Lite is in no RayNeo store and no Chinese retailer, and no price was ever published. TechRadar's headline, the only clear verdict on record, calls it a dystopia to avoid. Nobody can buy it, so nobody should plan around it.
