The Rokid Max 2 is a display you wear: two 0.68 inch Sony Micro-OLED panels at 1920x1080 per eye in birdbath optics, 50 degrees, 600 nits, 120 Hz, 75 g, plugged into a phone, PC, console or handheld over USB-C DisplayPort. There is no camera, no battery, no SoC and no radio in the frame. Rokid's own store showed US$ 279 on 2026-09-05.
The four independent reviews line up. PCMag called it a worthy but incremental follow-up, the same sharp focusable picture in a subtler design, with no spec change from the previous model. TechRadar liked the 120 Hz Full HD and the myopia dial and faulted the audio and the US$ 529 list price it quotes. GearBrain and Best For Android praised the panel and both complained about the sound: GearBrain found it short on immersion, Best For Android reports leakage, thin bass and 600 nits that fall short in direct sunlight.
The developer answer is short. The glasses have no app layer: they show what the host sends. Rokid's public SDK, the Rokid AR Platform, targets Android and YodaOS-Master on the Station 2 hub, sold separately at US$ 239, so writing software here means writing it for the host or for that hub.
It is not for someone shopping for AI glasses or for standalone AR. It is for someone who wants a private 1080p screen out of a laptop, a phone or a handheld console, accepts the cable, and does not need the sound to come from the frame.
Verdict
Four independent reviews agree on the shape of it. PCMag calls it an incremental follow-up with the same sharp picture, TechRadar and Best For Android fault the audio and the price outside a sale. At US$ 279 it is a private screen for a laptop, a phone or a handheld, and the code lives on the US$ 239 hub.
