For

- Gizmodo found the demo units exceptionally light for all-day wear.

- GSMArena and Android Police both saw an LED that disables the camera when covered.
- Warby Parker says its optical version will support a broad range of prescriptions.

Samsung unveiled Intelligent Eyewear, widely reported as Galaxy Glasses, at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026, working with Google, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The audio-only glasses have no display, pair with a phone, and run Google Gemini on a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip that Samsung itself names.
Samsung declares up to nine hours of mixed use plus seven more charges from the case. Independent outlets add detail Samsung has not confirmed: SamMobile reports a 12 MP camera, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and hands-on coverage put the weight near 50 grams.
Can a developer build for it today? Partly, and not through Samsung. Google's Jetpack XR SDK already supports the audio-glasses form factor since a December 2025 preview, open to any Android developer without a Samsung partnership. Samsung itself had published no device-specific developer documentation by the July reveal.
Four hands-on pieces, GSMArena, Android Police, Gizmodo and Smart Wearables, all name the same problem: the plastic demo frames scratched easily and picked up fingerprints, undermining a price nobody has announced. None could wear a unit or test Gemini, and Android Police and Gizmodo both say privacy concerns persist despite the LED indicator.
Verdict
GSMArena, Android Police, Gizmodo and Smart Wearables all liked the light weight and battery claim, but all four found the same cheap plastic finish, and none could test Gemini. It suits early adopters ready to commit before Samsung sets a price, not anyone judging build or software first.
