At the 2025-05-02 launch, Tom's Guide and Road to VR both described a narrower requirement of Intel Core Ultra 7/9 with Meteor Lake architecture or newer only; Sightful has broadened laptop compatibility since then.

Spacetop for Windows is Sightful's pivot away from its own AR laptop hardware, cancelled in October 2024, toward a Windows app that turns a laptop and bundled XREAL glasses into a private, 100-inch virtual desktop. The glasses run Sony Micro-OLED panels at 1920x1080 per eye, a 57-degree field of view and up to 600 nits, and weigh 87 grams.
Three reviewers liked what they saw. WIRED rated it 9 out of 10, calling it the first spatial-computing product that felt genuinely reasonable. Tom's Guide called it the most comfortable way they had worked on a laptop, with less neck strain. Road to VR agreed the huge workspace made the software layer more usable than Sightful's original, cancelled hardware.
Can a developer build an app for it? No. Spacetop works as a window-manager shell over ordinary Windows software; Sightful publishes no SDK and no app store, so nobody can build a native Spacetop app.
On sale since May 2025 at US$899 for the consumer bundle, glasses plus a first year of subscription; Road to VR says renewing costs about US$199 to US$200 a year after. Spacetop runs only on specific Intel Windows laptops, and WIRED found it drains battery fast and wanted a wider field of view. Verdict
WIRED, Tom's Guide and Road to VR all praised Spacetop's huge private virtual desktop, with WIRED rating it 9 out of 10, but all three found it limited to specific Intel Windows laptops with a subscription after year one. It suits owners of that exact laptop hardware, not budget buyers.
