Our review
For
- The datasheet declares a 12 MP autofocus camera, 1080p60 streaming and barcode scanning.
- Android 15 runs on the glasses themselves, on a Qualcomm QCS4490 with 6 GB and 128 GB.
- A removable 7,000 mAh battery, and the datasheet adds minus 20 C and a 2 m drop.
- Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 belong to the glasses, so the video stream needs no phone.
- Vuzix says fleet management (MDM) comes from several partners, which counts in volume.
Against
- US$2,199.99 on Vuzix's own store, which showed the LX1 as sold out on 06/09/2026.
- Neither the product page nor the datasheet publishes resolution, field of view or weight.
- Vuzix lists no prescription option: it is a boom display worn over your own glasses.
- Vuzix links a developer centre and an app store, and neither states the sideload rule.
- No IP rating is published: the datasheet answers with temperature and drop, not dust and water.
The LX1 is not eyewear: Vuzix's datasheet shows a boom display clipped to a cap or hardhat in front of one eye, in colour above 2,000 nits, with a 12 MP camera that streams 1080p60 and reads codes. Vuzix's store asks US$2,199.99 and showed it sold out on 06/09/2026.
It computes on its own: Android 15 on a Qualcomm QCS4490, 6 GB and 128 GB, Wi-Fi 6E and a removable 7,000 mAh battery, so your app runs on the glasses and the battery swaps mid-shift. Vuzix links a developer centre, a public app store and fleet management from partners, which is why this catalogue records the SDK as open; none of them states the sideload rule, and the datasheet names Secure Boot.
What is missing matters. Nobody outside Vuzix has published a test, and Vuzix never states resolution, field of view or weight. No prescription option, and no IP rating: the datasheet answers with minus 20 C, 55 C and a 2 m drop.
Verdict
No independent review of the LX1 was found up to 06/09/2026, so everything comes from Vuzix's own pages. It is a US$2,199.99 boom display clipped to a cap or hardhat, running Android 15 on board: made for warehouse and field work down to minus 20 C, not for anyone who wants eyewear, prescription or a published weight.
