US$2,499.99 at the online launch in April 2024, reported by MicroLED-Info. On 2026-09-06 the Vuzix page showed no price, only a call to contact sales. No price in CNY or BRL.

Our review
For
- Vuzix declares 640x480 per eye at 4,100 nits, double the 2,000 it declares for the Blade 2 and M400.
- Vuzix's own guide says building for it is as simple as building for any other Android device.
- VSight praised the waveguide optics and the stereo camera for remote industrial collaboration.
- Vuzix certifies it to ANSI Z87.1 and EN166/170, including with prescription inserts fitted.
- Vuzix declares two 13 MP autofocus cameras, 4K at 30 fps, a privacy LED and a barcode reader.
Against
- VSight and VR52 both criticised the display for being monochrome green and nothing else.
- VR52 called 2,499.99 dollars expensive, the design bulky, and put the lens inserts at 149.99 more.
- Vuzix publishes no weight, no battery capacity and no runtime figure for this model.
- By 6 September 2026 the store sat behind a login and the page offered only volume orders.
- HardwareZone said it needs enterprise software behind it before it earns its place at work.
The Shield puts an image in front of both eyes. Each side has its own micro-LED projector feeding a waveguide at 640x480 per eye, 30 degrees and 4,100 nits, on a Snapdragon XR1 with 6 GB of memory and 64 GB of storage under Android 11, plus two 13 MP cameras recording 4K at 30 fps and a barcode reader.
Writing software for it is straightforward. Vuzix's own guide says developing for the Shield is as simple as for any other Android device, on standard Android APIs; the spec sheet says voice control reaches third party integrators through the SDK, and no store gate or sideload restriction is documented.
The reviews split along one line. VSight praised the waveguide optics and the stereo camera, said the ordinary glasses shape encourages daily industrial use, but named the monochrome display as the limit and said the display switching mechanism can get in the way. VR52 liked the display, the titanium frame and the safety certifications while calling it expensive and somewhat bulky.
Three things should stop a buyer. The display is green and nothing else, and Vuzix publishes no weight, no battery capacity and no runtime; the 5.11 g in its documents is the waveguide part alone. Buying one is the hard part: the 2,499.99 dollar launch price came from MicroLED-Info in April 2024, while on 6 September 2026 the page showed only a contact sales button, behind a store login.
Verdict
Two green Micro-LED waveguides, 640x480 per eye at 4,100 nits, on a frame certified to ANSI Z87.1 and EN166/170. It launched at 2,499.99 dollars in April 2024; by 6 September 2026 Vuzix's page offered only volume orders behind a login. Plain Android to code for, and a fleet buy, not a single unit.
