- 2.Wi-Fi. None, no Wi-Fi radio. The official Vuzix Z100 User Manual's FCC/CE regulatory compliance table lists only one radio, Bluetooth Low Energy ("BLE: 2402-2480 MHz", "BLE: -7.53 dBm (max)"), with no Wi-Fi/WLAN frequency band declared [OFFICIAL, Vuzix Z100 User Manual, doc 515PB0004]. This contradicts AR Compare's spec sheet, which lists 'Wi-Fi: Yes' with no supporting detail.
- 3.Chip. None onboard, the glasses have no application processor; all compute happens on the paired Android/iOS phone
- 4.System. None onboard (Bluetooth-tethered companion device); requires Android 12+ or iOS with the Vuzix Connect app
Vuzix launched the Z100 at US$499 on 2024-11-20, and PCMag read US$499.99 on 2025-04-11. On 2026-09-06 vuzix.com no longer listed the glasses, only their accessories. No price in CNY or BRL.

For
- PCMag found the caption and translation features effective and the display easy to read.
- Digital Trends reported two days of use, against the up to 48 hours that Vuzix claims.
- Wareable and Digital Trends: notifications, live transcription and a teleprompter, on both platforms.
- Five public GitHub repos, and Vuzix says TranscribeGlass ships a captioning app on retail Z100s.
- Vuzix sells an official prescription insert kit for the Z100, cut to your own prescription, at US$149.99.
Against
- PCMag: no microphone on board, so speech features borrow the phone's, and no lens dimming.
- Navigation: no map for PCMag, Android only for Wareable, barely usable for Digital Trends.
- PCMag and Wareable: fitness tracking is thin and locked to Vuzix's own app.
- Digital Trends: no AI on the device, and translation that runs in one direction only.
- PCMag saw US$499.99 in 2025; vuzix.com no longer lists the glasses, and UnboundXR marks clearance.
The Z100 is a display accessory, not a computer. Vuzix gives 38 g and up to 48 hours of battery, with no camera, microphone or speaker; PCMag and Digital Trends describe a 640x480 green image over the right eye across about 30 degrees. The microphone comes from the paired phone, over Bluetooth through Vuzix Connect.
That shape decides what you can build. Vuzix keeps five public repositories, Android and iOS SDKs plus a connectivity SDK, so your app lives on the phone and drives what the glasses show. The evidence that this reaches production is commercial: Vuzix's own release says TranscribeGlass placed repeat orders to ship its captioning product on retail Z100 units.
The three repeat the same pattern. PCMag rated the captions and the readability, then listed the absent microphone and the map missing from directions. Wareable found navigation limited to Android and fitness locked to Vuzix's own app. Digital Trends reported two days of battery, found the navigation demo barely usable and marked down one-way translation and the lack of AI on board.
The risk is buying one. PCMag saw US$499.99 in April 2025; Vuzix's comparison page now lists only other models, one reseller marks the Developer's Edition as clearance, and another quotes a bundle whose US$799 figure is spec text, not a price. Partners still ship it, but Vuzix publishes no current price.
Verdict
Three reviews tested the Z100: PCMag saw captions and translation work, and Digital Trends counted two days of battery against the up to 48 hours Vuzix claims. It suits whoever writes notification or captioning apps driven from the phone, and not whoever needs a microphone, a camera or a current price.
