Notes

  1. 1.Chip. Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 [Samsung Newsroom / Android Central / SamMobile, consistent across official and press coverage of the shared Google-Samsung Android XR audio-glasses platform that this Warby Parker frame ships on]

No price from Warby Parker, Samsung or Google up to 2026-09-05. At Unpacked on 2026-07-22 Samsung's COO called the pricing premium, without a figure, and an IDC analyst told CNBC he would not be surprised by US$600 to US$700.

Our review

For

  • Any Android Studio developer can build for it now, through Google's Jetpack XR audio-glasses SDK.
  • Warby Parker promises a broad range of prescriptions and lens options, drawing on its own optical retail.
  • Samsung rates the battery at up to 9 hours, plus about 7 more charges from the case.
  • Tom's Guide found Gemini Live's real-time translation demo strong enough to call it a genuine rival.
  • Android Police found the frame noticeably lighter than Ray-Ban Meta alternatives at the same event.

Against

  • Neither Warby Parker nor Google had announced a price or ship date as of September 5, 2026.
  • Gizmodo found the demo units' plastic scratched easily and picked up fingerprints fast.
  • Gizmodo also found no adjustable nose pads, and camera resolution was not disclosed at the event.
  • Android Police notes it still runs the 2023-era Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, not a newer one.
  • All four hands-on reviews were guided and display-only: no journalist has worn them or tested software.

Warby Parker Intelligent Eyewear is the eyewear retailer's first smart-glasses line: a display-free audio frame co-developed with Google on Samsung's shared Android XR platform, unveiled May 19, 2026 at Google I/O. A front camera, speakers and microphones feed Google Gemini for voice queries, live translation and navigation on a paired phone. The chip is a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, and Samsung rates the battery at up to 9 hours plus roughly 7 more charges from the case.

For the question this site exists to answer, the answer is genuinely open. Development happens at the Android XR platform level through Google's Jetpack XR SDK, which added an audio-glasses category with Developer Preview 3 in December 2025: any Android developer can build for it, no partnership with Warby Parker, Samsung or Google required, and apps distribute through Google Play on the paired phone rather than installing on the frame.

Four outlets got a guided look at prototypes. Tom's Guide called Gemini Live's translation demo strong enough to rival Ray-Ban Meta; Android Police measured the frame noticeably lighter than the competing design at the same event and praised its see-through temple. Gizmodo found the demo plastic scratched and smudged easily, with no adjustable nose pads; Android Police noted it still runs the 2023-era Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 and raised privacy questions despite the recording LED.

As of September 5, 2026 neither company had disclosed a price: Samsung's COO called the positioning premium without a figure, and an IDC analyst told CNBC he would not be surprised by $600 to $700. No journalist has worn the glasses or tested the software, camera resolution was never disclosed, and Warby Parker still excluded the line from its FY2026 revenue guidance in its August 2026 earnings call. Anyone who needs a device this year should look elsewhere.

Verdict

Warby Parker's Intelligent Eyewear is the one device in this batch with an actual open SDK: any Android developer can build for it today through Google's Jetpack XR SDK, no partnership required. But no unit has shipped, Warby Parker has not announced a price or exact date, and every hands-on so far found the demo plastic scratched easily.
