The Air 2 is a display and nothing else. XREAL documents no camera, no Wi-Fi, no chip and no operating system for it, and the frame draws power from the USB-C cable of the host. The store page declares two Sony 0.55 inch micro OLED panels, 1920x1080 per eye, 46 degrees, up to 500 nits and 72 grams.
For anyone who wants to ship software, that shape decides the answer. The XREAL SDK, successor to NRSDK, is a public download at developer.xreal.com with samples on GitHub, and the official documentation lists the Air and Air 2 among supported glasses with 3DoF head tracking, reserving 6DoF for the Air 2 Ultra, with no partner gate on the SDK or the docs. What you write is a Unity app that runs on the host and treats the glasses as a screen that follows your head.
The three published reviews agree on the picture and split on the sound. XDA Developers called the displays excellent and the speakers weak in bass and volume; Geekspin, on 29/01/2024, wrote that they work very well. On software they converge: SlashGear counted few AR experiences in the Nebula app, XDA Developers found no Nebula on Windows, and Geekspin found none for iPhone or most Android phones.
The price carries a label: the XREAL US store showed US$199 beside a regular US$249 on 06/09/2026, while the launch reviews were written against US$399. Mogura VR reported the end of sales in Japan on 23/12/2025.
Verdict
XREAL declares 1920x1080 per eye at 46 degrees in a 72 gram frame powered by the host USB-C cable. XDA Developers called the displays excellent and the software incomplete. The public XREAL SDK lists the Air 2 with 3DoF head tracking, so the app runs on the host: nothing runs on the glasses.
