US$699 at the announcement on 2024-01-07, and ¥3,999 in China from 2024-07-31. The JD.com list price later rose to ¥4,599. Xreal announced the end of sales on 2026-02-26 and the store page now returns 404.

Our review
For
- UploadVR: it meshes the room, tracks hands and keeps persistent spatial anchors.
- The XREAL SDK downloads after accepting the terms, with plane detection and depth mesh.
- WearableXP cited 52 degrees of field of view and three levels of electrochromic dimming.
- Engadget: comfortable for long wear at 80 g, and it works with phones, Windows and Mac.
Against
- UploadVR saw 45 by 25 degrees and virtual objects in halves; WearableXP called the field narrow.
- UploadVR: at launch 6DoF ran only on Snapdragon Galaxy S22 and S23, not the Exynos build.
- Engadget, Tom's Guide and WearableXP: hand tracking lags and misses the pinch gesture.
- WearableXP and Trusted Reviews: no battery of its own, so it lives off the host's power.
- Xreal announced the end of sales on 26/02/2026, and official shops no longer list it.
The Air 2 Ultra was built for developers: Sony Micro-OLED at 1920x1080 per eye, 52 degrees, 500 nits declared, 80 g, plus two environment-tracking cameras. It has no battery, processor or operating system; a USB-C cable to a phone, PC or Mac supplies power and computing.
Those cameras are the point. The XREAL SDK runs on Unity and downloads once you accept the terms, with plane detection, hand tracking, spatial anchors and a depth mesh. Two gates matter: at launch 6DoF worked only with Snapdragon Galaxy S22 and S23, and UploadVR notes the Exynos build was excluded, while mirroring took any USB-C host; raw camera and IMU access sits in a separate Enterprise SDK, released on approval.
The reviews line up. UploadVR credited the room mesh, the hand tracking and the anchors, then called the field of view narrow and the launch content thin, and it and Trusted Reviews found the software unfinished. Engadget saw hand tracking lag, a demo unit crash and hosts warming up. Tom's Guide called US$699 expensive. WearableXP cited 52 degrees and three-level dimming, and marked down the missing battery.
The calendar closes the case: Xreal announced the end of sales on 26 February 2026, and by September it had left the official US, UK and EU shops and JD.com, where it opened at 3,999 yuan in July 2024. The one-year warranty covers only whoever bought before that, in an authorised channel.
Verdict
Xreal aimed the Air 2 Ultra at developers and gave it two environment cameras: UploadVR saw room meshing, hand tracking and persistent anchors, and then complained about 45 by 25 degrees. Sales ended on 26 February 2026, so it now serves as a study of 6DoF, not as a platform to ship on.
