IDC forecasts AR/VR and smart glasses shipments to jump 39.2% in 2025

IDC forecast that worldwide shipments of AR/VR headsets combined with display-less smart glasses would rise 39.2% in 2025, reaching 14.3 million units. The display-less AI smart glasses segment alone was projected to expand 247.5% year-over-year. IDC's Q2 2025 vendor breakdown showed Meta with 60.6% combined market share, followed by Xiaomi at 7.7%, XREAL at 4.1%, RayNeo at 2.7%, and Huawei at 2.6%. IDC also projected content and software spending around these devices would grow 19.7% to roughly $12 billion globally in 2025.
