China adds AI glasses to national trade-in subsidy program
China's 2026 consumer trade-in program, backed by 62.5 billion yuan ($8.94 billion) in special treasury bonds, added AI glasses to the subsidized device category for the first time starting January 2026, offering buyers a 15% discount capped at 500 yuan (about $72.6). State media reported that China's AI glasses shipment volume grew 112% year-over-year in 2025 and was expected to exceed 2 million units in 2026, with month-on-month sales increases reported after the subsidy took effect.
