Apple's first smart glasses now expected at WWDC 2027, not 2026
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported on May 31, 2026 that Apple now plans to unveil its first smart glasses at WWDC in June 2027, with shipments beginning in late 2027, a delay from Gurman's earlier expectation of an early-2027 or 2026 debut, attributed to development hurdles. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo separately forecast the Ray-Ban-style device would enter mass production in Q2 2027, with 3 to 5 million or more units shipped that year. The first-generation Apple glasses are expected to lack AR display capability, featuring cameras, speakers and voice-controlled AI instead, with a display-equipped second generation potentially arriving in 2028 or 2029.
