China adds smart glasses to national trade-in subsidy program for the first time

China's Ministry of Commerce and seven other departments (including the Cyberspace Administration, NDRC and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) issued 'Opinions on Accelerating the Development of AI+ Consumption' dated June 9, 2026 (released June 18), formally naming smart glasses as a category. The document, for the first time, added smart glasses priced up to 6,000 yuan to the home-appliance/digital trade-in subsidy list, offering 15% of the sale price back, capped at 500 yuan per unit.
