ByteDance reportedly scraps its first Doubao AI glasses design, accelerates two new models

Citing supply-chain sources, Pandaily reported on July 16, 2026 that ByteDance dropped its original planned Doubao AI glasses model before launch, after earlier reports that its first design suffered from camera, battery, weight, heat and cost compromises, and is instead accelerating two second-generation devices. ByteDance had not announced either device publicly; one is reported to focus on lightweight voice/photography AI features and the other on stronger cameras or a display, with specifications, pricing and release dates still unclear as of the report.
