Notes
- 1.Display type. See-through waveguide projection with Vuzix's own optics engine, right eye only, 24 bit colour at a 1:1 aspect ratio. From the Vuzix Blade 2 product sheet dated March 2023.
- 2.Video. 1080p, and Vuzix's own materials disagree on the frame rate. The support FAQ says 720p at 30 fps or 1080p at 24 fps; the press release and the authorized resellers ChannelXR, ARCompare and UnboundXR say 720p at 60 fps or 1080p at 30 fps. Both figures trace back to Vuzix, and this page cannot say which is current.
- 3.Wi-Fi. 802.11 dual band on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The product sheet writes it as 5.0 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and the Vuzix press release confirms support for both bands.
- 4.Bluetooth. Version 5.0, and the number comes from the reseller ARCompare. Vuzix's own product sheet only writes 5.0 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which reads as a list of Wi-Fi bands and does not separate a Bluetooth version, so this is not confirmed word for word on an official page.
- 5.Chip. Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 with four ARM cores, named on Vuzix's support page for the Blade 2. The product sheet only says quad core ARM CPU, which fits the Snapdragon 429's Cortex-A53 cores.
- 6.Water protection. No IP rating. The knowledge base of a Vuzix authorized reseller states that the Blade 2 is not IP rated and can be damaged by water and dust. Vuzix does not say this on its own pages, but nothing there contradicts it.
USD 1,299.99 at launch in 2022 and at the reseller ChannelXR on 2026-09-06. Vuzix's own store no longer lists the glasses, only the USD 149.99 prescription insert. No price in CNY or BRL was found.

For
- Vuzix documents it as a plain Android device: Android Studio, Java, Kotlin or the NDK, no signup gate.
- VR Expert called the 2,000 nit brightness exceptional for outdoor and bright environments.
- VR Expert and Wearable Daily both count the ANSI Z87.1 rating: certified safety eyewear, not just glasses.
- Vuzix sells a prescription insert kit at 149.99 dollars, single vision only, fitted by the buyer.
Against
- The display sits over the right eye only, which VR Expert listed among its drawbacks.
- A Vuzix authorised reseller states it carries no IP rating: no water or dust protection is declared.
- Vuzix quotes about 3 hours; VR Expert's knowledge base records a 470 mAh cell and 1 to 2 hours.
- VR Expert reported touchpad responsiveness problems and a camera capped at 1080p.
- Vuzix no longer lists it on its own store; an authorised reseller still ships it at 1,299.99 dollars.
The Blade 2 looks like ordinary safety glasses. Vuzix puts a 480x480 full colour waveguide across 20 degrees over the right eye only, rated above 2,000 nits, on a 90 g frame running Android 11 on a Snapdragon 429 with 1 GB of memory and 40 GB of storage, plus an 8 MP camera. Vuzix's own pages disagree on frame rate: 1080p at 24 fps on support, 30 in the press release.
Development here is ordinary Android. Vuzix's own guide says you build for it in Android Studio with Java or Kotlin, or C and C++ through the NDK, on standard Android APIs, with extras for speech and haptics. A Connectivity SDK is open source on GitHub so a phone app can talk to code on the glasses, and no developer programme, NDA or approval step appears in the file.
VR Expert called it the best entry level assisted reality pair in its price range, singled out the 2,000 nits for outdoor work and valued the ANSI Z87.1 certification. Expand Reality noted a Microsoft Teams integration that runs on 250 kb of bandwidth.
Who should skip it. The display covers one eye, the camera stops at 1080p, and VR Expert found the touchpad unresponsive at times. There is no IP rating, per a Vuzix authorised reseller. Vuzix quotes about 3 hours while that same reseller records 470 mAh and 1 to 2 hours, and Vuzix has dropped the Blade 2 from its own storefront. Expand Reality adds that full function depends on a paired phone.
Verdict
Safety eyewear with a full colour waveguide over the right eye only, 1,299.99 dollars from a reseller now that Vuzix dropped it from its own store. VR Expert called it the best entry level assisted reality pair in its range. Plain Android 11, but on 1 GB of memory and about 3 hours: a short bright task, not a shift.
