Google and Xreal deepen Android XR partnership, unveil Project Aura

At CES 2026, Google and Xreal announced a multi-year extension of their partnership naming Xreal a lead hardware partner for optical see-through Android XR devices, unveiling Project Aura: tethered XR glasses with a 70-degree field of view, an X1S chip in the glasses and a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip in a separate compute puck, with 6DoF and hand/eye tracking plus Google Gemini integration. The companies said Project Aura would launch globally in 2026; it received a CES 2026 Innovation Award.
