Notes

  1. 1.Display type. Binocular diffractive optical waveguide (光波导近眼显示), with two independent Micro-LED optical engines, one per eye [ITHOME 2025-11-27; PCONLINE product sheet]. The first public look at the development came at the WAIC in Shanghai on 2025-07-26; the commercial launch with a final price was on 2025-11-27.
  2. 2.Resolution. 640x290 per eye, per PConline's product sheet (product.pconline.com.cn); not found in Alibaba or Quark's own material.
  3. 3.Video. 3K at 30 fps natively, on a Sony IMX681 sensor, upscaled to 4K at 60 fps by AI processing in the cloud, per the launch coverage [SCMP and Gizmochina via search]. PConline also lists 1080p at 30 fps recording.
  4. 4.Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi present. A teardown identified a Qualcomm WCN7851 chip [52AUDIO teardown, 2026-03-11]; PConline's product sheet confirms Wi-Fi but names neither the band nor the generation.
  5. 5.Bluetooth. Bluetooth present, confirmed by PConline's product sheet. No source consulted gives the version.
  6. 6.Chip. Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 as the main processor, switchable between Android and an RTOS, plus a BES Hengxuan BES2800BP coprocessor for audio and low power work [ITHOME 2025-11-27; the 52AUDIO teardown names the coprocessor as exactly BES2800BP].
  7. 7.System. A dual system, Android plus an RTOS, switched by task: the RTOS for always on low power functions, Android for the heavier ones [ITHOME 2025-11-27]. PConline's product sheet says the companion phone app runs on Android and iOS, which describes the app, not the operating system of the glasses.
  8. 8.Water protection. IPX4, per PConline's product sheet, and not confirmed by any other source consulted.

RMB 3,799 at the launch on 2025-11-27, about US$537 as reported by SCMP and CNBC. JD sellers reached RMB 3,199 with coupons in early 2026, according to ZOL. No price in reais, and no official channel outside China.

How the score is built

For

  • GeekPark read the 4,000-nit green waveguide in direct sunlight, with no rainbow effect.
  • 52audio praised the display adjustment: nine distance steps and five height steps.
  • Kuai Keji credited the 109-degree lens and OIS plus EIS for steady video in motion.
  • GeekPark wore the 51 g frame for two hours with no mark left on the nose.
  • GeekPark notes the prescription lens is bonded to the waveguide in a single piece.

Against

  • No public SDK: Alibaba's product lead told Yicai that MCP support is a plan, not a feature.
  • GeekPark found most AI functions still depend on the paired phone; sold in China only.
  • 52audio: about 7 hours combined, weak bass and audible leakage outdoors from open speakers.
  • 52audio puts the real total above RMB 5,000 once prescription and accessories are counted.
  • Kuai Keji, GeekPark and 52audio all put the 12 MP stills below a flagship phone.

The S1 is the Quark model with something in front of your eyes: two micro-LED engines feeding diffractive waveguides, monochrome green, 640x290 per eye on PConline's sheet, 26.5 degrees and 4,000 nits, titanium frame, 7.5 mm temples. Behind them a 12 MP Sony IMX681 at 3K30 and a swappable 287 mAh battery pair, about 7 hours claimed.

The developer answer is closed: everything is wired into Alibaba's own services, Alipay, Amap, Taobao, Fliggy. Product lead Jin Xian told the Chinese press MCP for outsiders is planned; Gigazine and eWeek call it present at launch, contradicting him, so this catalogue treats it as unavailable.

The display is what the reviewers keep returning to. GeekPark read the panel in direct sunlight with none of the rainbow effect common to waveguides. The camera divides them: Kuai Keji credited the 109-degree lens with OIS and EIS for steady video and liked the route drawn in the field of view, but rated stills below a flagship phone; GeekPark saw occasional blur, 52audio noise in low light. 52audio measured 52.6 g; charging is a magnetic clip, not USB-C.

Not for anyone outside China, nor for anyone counting the whole bill, which 52audio puts above RMB 5,000 with prescription and accessories. The price is unsettled: SCMP and CNBC report RMB 3,799 at launch, about US$537, while Chinese coverage of the same event lists RMB 3,999 standard, subsidy applied.

Verdict

The Alibaba pair with a display: green waveguides at 4,000 nits that GeekPark read in direct sunlight, 51 g, about 7 hours claimed, RMB 3,799 at launch. It suits someone already living inside Alibaba's services in China. It does not suit a developer: MCP for outsiders is still only planned.
