No independent review of this device has been found as of September 6, 2026. XRAI, based in London, builds the AR2 around a full-lens binocular waveguide display that projects live captions in both eyes, rated by XRAI at 2,500 nits and described as 60% brighter than its first-generation AR One. The glasses weigh 49 g, per XRAI, and carry three onboard microphones for capture.
Writing software for the AR2 is not an option today: XRAI publishes no SDK or developer API for the hardware itself, only server-side integrations with Microsoft Azure, AWS, Deepgram and ChatGPT that XRAI itself controls, reached by pairing the glasses to a phone over Bluetooth rather than by running anything on the glasses alone.
XRAI sells the AR2 outright for US$699, down from the US$750 launch price shown at AWE 2025, with the base captioning function free of subscription. Deeper accuracy, translation and speaker identification sit behind optional Premium (US$15) and Ultimate (US$30) monthly plans, so the full feature set costs more than the sticker price.
