Reality Labs loses over $4 billion in Q1 2026 as cumulative losses hit $83.5 billion
Meta reported on April 29, 2026 that Reality Labs, the division housing its smart glasses and VR business, recorded a $4.03 billion operating loss in the first quarter of 2026 on $402 million in revenue. The result pushed the division's cumulative losses since Meta began breaking it out in late 2020 to roughly $83.5 billion. Meta's CFO tied continued spending to the smart-glasses pivot, including EssilorLuxottica manufacturing and AI features, more than to the VR headset business.
