Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2)

The Gen 2 is a camera and two open ear speakers on a frame, with no display at all. Meta declares 8 hours of mixed use, 3K video and a camera field of 100 degrees, from US$379 since 17/09/2025. The B&H spec sheet adds the 12 MP ultra wide camera, five microphones, 32 GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6 and 48.6 grams for the Wayfarer; PCMag lists IPX4.

For a developer this is the Meta worth reading. The Wearables Device Access Toolkit is open source under Apache, any developer can register in the Wearables Developer Center, and its supported device list names the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. The limits are explicit: the app runs on the phone and reaches only camera and audio, there is no sideload onto the glasses, and Meta reserves public release of integrations to selected partners.

Reviewers split on the software, not on the hardware. Gizmodo called it the best non display smart glasses you can buy and still called Meta AI inconsistent, noting the photo sensor stayed at 12 MP. PCMag praised the capture and the audio and found framing hard without a viewfinder. Wired aimed at the ecosystem: the Vibes feed in the app, nose marks after long wear, three minutes per clip.

It is not for whoever needs a full day. Wired reports 5 to 6 hours of continuous use, and Matt Sayar reports the battery gone by early evening under heavy use, one Bluetooth device at a time, and accidental taps on the touch panel.
